Vestry Nominations

The Vestry is the key lay leadership of the church.  They focus on the mission and vision of the church as well as making major financial decisions.  The Vestry is comprised of 12 duly elected Parishioners in good standing in accordance with DOT canon 9.2.  They meet the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm.  Vestry members are nominated by parishioners and asked to serve.  Once they agree, their name is placed on the ballot.  Then each year at the annual meeting, parishioners elect new Vestry persons to serve three years on the rotating board.  The Senior Warden is appointed by the Rector.  The Junior Warden, Clerk, and Treasurer are elected within the Vestry and serve one of their three years in this position.  

Do you know a person who has demonstrated a passion for Ascension and shown themselves to be a leader?  We would like the congregation to submit the names of people they think would be good vestry members, no later than December 8th by filling out the form below, emailing Dana Sutton, or dropping the nominees’ name and contact information in the offering plate on Sunday with the title "vestry nomination".  Each nomination should include the nominee’s name, contact information and what you think qualifies them for this leadership position. (Do not worry if you don't have the contact information.  We will be able to get a hold of them, if just makes it easier if you have provided the needed info. )

The Nominating Committee asks that you DO NOT speak to the person you are nominating before submitting his or her name. The vestry will confirm each person’s willingness to serve before their name goes on the ballot. Thank you for your help in this process which is vital to the ongoing life of Ascension.
