DISASTER RESPONSE MINISTRY

Picture
The Ascension Disaster Response Ministry was formed for the purpose of providing post event assistance to parishioners of Ascension Church, affiliated network congregations, or in response to requests from the Diocesan Emergency Coordinator….in the event of natural or man-made disasters (fires, floods, hurricanes, etc.). This help will be varied in nature and may include (but is not restricted to) such services as: assistance with food, clothing, transportation, temporary housing, home and property cleanup, or any other such activities as the rector may deem appropriate.

Any church members (or non-members) who think they might need special assistance such as those who live alone, have disabilities or special requirements, have no family in the immediate area, or anyone else who, for whatever reason, would simply like to be checked on, are requested to complete the Ascension Member Assistance Request form and email it to the office or sent to our mailing address. You may also drop it by the office Monday through Friday 9am-4pm.

Following the first 3 days of any disaster, the respondents will be contacted by a member of this ministry through whatever means necessary (phone, email, or personal visit), and any aid possible will be rendered.

In addition, any member who might be able to provide assistance in the form of equipment and/or labor, is requested to fill out the Equipment/Volunteer Form. It should be stressed that no one will be called on to render this help except in the wake of an emergency situation. Please return this form to the church office through the same channels as the Member Assistance form.

This ministry is unique in that all concerned hope and pray that it never has to be utilized!
